This is out first WBL win to bring our record in the league 1-5. We are exicted to get this win under our belts and start moving up the ranks before the WBL tournament in May. Having 6 matches this week, with one of them being an all day Tournament, I had thought that our stamina would begin to dwindle nearing the end of the week but instead the boys dug down deep and found the heart to come out on top. Not only against Defiance but also on Saturday.
Marion Harding Doubles Tournament
Teams who competed, final place listed after name:
Bucyrus (8)
Celina (3)
Defiance (6)
Groveport (7)
Grove City (2)
Kenton (4)
Marion Harding (1)
River Valley (5)
Kenton’s Team Score placed us 4th out of the 8 competing teams!! Great job! We even beat some Celina and River Valley teams (who we have fallen to earlier in the season).
We took 4 flighted teams, and all of them had to play three times.
- Parshall/Rogers finished 2nd in the finals falling to Marion Harding’s #1 and #2 singles players. Being a dominate force for the Kenton team all seaosn we throught they would be best suited for the first doubles position and they did wonderful, advancing with wins through the tournament into the finals.
- Smith/ Martin finished fifth in their flight. These are not doubles players so they adapted very well to put points on the board for Kenton.
- Heilman/Watkins finished third in their flight. They fought through a 3rd set match to start their winning streak. and ended with a win to add more points to the team total.
- Hunsicker/ Ulmer finished sixth in their flight. Came out on top of a tie breaker at 8-8 in one fo their matches to pull them above the bottom brackets and into a higher scoring finish for the team total.
GREAT JOB DOUBLES!
