On a wet, windy day in Elida, the Kenton Boys Soccer team found a way to edge out Shawnee and earn their spot in the District Finals. The Wildcats went in to the half down 1-0, with little to show for on the offensive side end. Early in the second half, Hayden Hicks fought through a handful of Shawnee defenders before being fouled in the goalie box which provided Kenton with a penalty kick. Landon Bartlett made the right move to find the back of the net and tie the game up at 1-1.
Shawnee made a costly error, providing Kenton a 1 score lead with an “own goal” which ended up being the difference. Kenton will face the winner of Elida and St. Mary’s on Thursday, October 26th at 6PM at Elida.
