The Ohio Department of Education has grant the Kenton City School District a waiver day to work on staff professional development and write the Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) for the new evaluation system.
Student Learning Objectives are an evaluation component of Student Growth Measures:
Student growth measures (SGMs) are a method for determining how much academic progress students are making by measuring growth between two points in time. In essence, any assessment available to educators will be considered a student growth measure when used to evaluate progress or growth, provided the assessment is rigorous and comparable across classrooms.
There will be no classes for students but staff will still need to report for that day. If you have any questions, feel free to contact your building’s principal for further information.
Preschool and Kindergarten registration/screening process for the Kenton City School District will be held April 10, 11, 12 and 13 at the Westview Preschool and Kindergarten Center, 401 Scott Avenue, Kenton, OH. Parents need to schedule an appointment with Carol Scott, Administrative Assistant at 419-673-4294. At your scheduled appointment, please bring your child’s birth certificate (not birth record), social security card, immunization record and custody papers, if applicable. To register for Preschool your child must be three years old on or before August 1, 2012. To register for Kindergarten, your child must be five years old on or before August 1, 2012. We look forward to working with you and your child.
Parents of children who will be five years old by August 1, 2009, must register for kindergarten screening by bringing the child’s birth certificate, social security card, immunization record and custody papers, if applicable, to the Westview Kindergarten Center located at 401 Scott Avenue. Children will not need to come during the registration process. Please call 419-673-4294 to schedule an appointment.
Immunization records must be presented at the time of registration. The State of Ohio requires that all students entering kindergarten have 5 DTaP, 4 Polio, 3 Hepatitis B, 2 MMR and Varicella. If your child has had natural chickenpox, and presents a signed statement from the parent, guardian, or physician to that effect, they are not required to be immunized against chickenpox. Any student without these immunizations will be directed to the school nurse or the Kenton-Hardin Health Department.
During registration, copies of the required paperwork will be made, parents will fill out school information forms, and a date and time for the actual screening of the child will be given.
