Kenton City Schools will be on a two hour delay Monday, December 12th due to ice.
The Kenton High School Wrestling team lost their first matches of the season on Tuesday. The wrestling team lost to Elida 66-15 and lost to Bath 54-24. Julian Weaver (113), Riley Fitzgerald (126) and Noah Eikenberry (195) each won both of their matches! Andrew Taylor (160) won against Bath. The wrestling team is back in action Saturday when they travel to Bucyrus.
The Kenton Girls Swim team lost to Van Wert on Tuesday 86-72 and the boys team was victorious beating Van Wert 79-56. The swimmers are back in action on Tuesday the 13th when they host Ben Logan and Bellefontaine at 6pm at the Hardin Co. YMCA
Students were given their interim report cards during their 2nd period class today. Updated grades can always be accessed through Progress Book.
On Wednesday, December 14th at 6:3o pm, there will be an information meeting for KHS students and parents. Seniors and parents will receive information and application instructions about the Local Scholarships, Dollars for Scholarships, and the R.E. & Joan S. Allen Scholarship. All underclassmen and parents will be given specific information about the elective programs available at KHS. This is a great opportunity for parents to hear about the opportunities from the instructors and to ask questions.
A new survey is now active on our district main web page and we want to know your thoughts. The results are used to make positive changes in our high school. The survey will only be “live” for the next 10 days, so please fill it out as soon as possible.
The Kenton boys basketball team won their season opener on Saturday by defeating Waynesfield-Goshen 82-41. The boys team will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Tiffin Columbian High School for a freshman, JV, varsity contest, The freshman game will start at 4:30, with the JV game starting at 6 followed by the varsity game. Reminder that the game scheduled at Coldwater, originally scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 10th has been rescheduled to January 3rd.
The girls basketball team extended their win streak to 3 games on Monday night when the girls beat Bellefontaine 55-31. The girls look to continue their success on Thursday when they host WBL rival Celina at Kenton High School. The JV game begins at 6, followed by the varsity game. The girls team will continue their stretch of home games when they host Van Buren on Saturday, Dec. 10 with the JV game starting at 10am.
The boys and girls bowling teams opened their 2016-2017 season on Monday when they traveled to Van Wert. The girls team opened the season victorious by beating Van Wert 2043 to 1966. The boys team fell a little short to Van Wert, losing 2497 to 2879.
Kenton High School Student Council conducted their annual food drive competition November 14th-18th. Each school within the district provided many shopping carts of food that were donated to the Neighborhood Opportunity Center and Full Gospel Church’s food pantry. Kenton High School collected 4,191 items, beating our record of 4,000 from last year. The winning class was Mr. Stuck’s 2nd period! 1422 items were collected in this one class period! Congratulations to them for such a great effort! The students also collected over $250 dollars to be divided among the organizations as well.Kenton Elementary School collected over 1,800 items to also donate to these organizations. KHS student council would like to thank all of the teachers,students,and community members who helped make this year’s drive a huge success.
