r.    Approve the following board resolution for abolishing classified positions and reassigning employees.

Kenton City School District Board of Education

WHEREAS, pursuant to Article 14 of the OAPSE labor agreement and Board of Education policy, the Board has the authority to determine when a layoff or job abolishment is necessary, and it is the responsibility of the Board to provide appropriate staffing levels for the implementation of the educational program of the District and the operation of the schools and to do so efficiently and economically;

WHEREAS, the Board finds and concludes it is necessary to abolish one (1) educational assistant position at Kenton High School as the result of a reorganization for the efficient operation of the Board, and for lack of work;

WHEREAS, pursuant to the OAPSE labor contract, the Superintendent will reassign two (2) educational assistants due to this job abolishment and the resulting displacement;

WHEREAS, due to these reassignments, the Board finds and concludes it is not necessary to lay off any educational assistants at this time;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Kenton City School District Board of Education that as the result of a reorganization for the efficient operation of the Board, and for lack of work, one (1) educational assistant position at Kenton High School is hereby abolished effective at the start of the 2011-12 school year.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, pursuant to the OAPSE labor contract, the Superintendent will reassign the following two (2) educational assistants, effective at the start of the 2011-12 school year:

Laura Hamilton – to Hardin Central Elementary School and

Robin Miller – to Westview Kindergarten Center (new position).

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Superintendent will provide written notice to these employees of the adoption of this Resolution and ensure that any and all other actions necessary to carry out these reassignments are completed.
